Upcoming Auditions

BackStory Theatre is excited to announce that audition sign-ups for our two Spring productions are open!

BackStory invites all actors, ages 9-13 years, to sign up for
Trap written by Stephen Gregg
An incomprehensible event: every person in the audience of a high school play falls unconscious—every person but one. Using interviews with witnesses, loved ones, first responders, and the investigators pursuing the case, a theatre ensemble brings the story of the strange event to life, documentary-style. But as the strands weave together into an increasingly dangerous web, it becomes clear that this phenomenon might not be entirely in the past. Unnerving, exhilarating, and wildly inventive, you've never walked into anything quite like Trap.
Auditions will be held at the Broomfield Community Center
on January 10th.
Please prepare a 60 second monologue (preferably dramatic.) All actors should arrive at auditions with a resume, headshot (informal), a list of potential scheduling conflicts, and be ready for some cold readings and improv!
Rehearsals will be held January 27-April 23 at the Broomfield Community Center (BCC), from 6:45 - 8:15pm.
Trap will perform on April 25 at 7pm and April 26 at 2pm. A special tech rehearsal will be held Friday, April 24 from 4:30-8:30pm. Location for this performance is TBD.

BackStory Theatre is proud to present The 2026 BYLP show:
12 Angry Jurors
by Reginald Rose and adapted by Sherman L. Sergel.
In this classic drama, a 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. "He doesn't stand a chance," mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the jury room. It looks like an open-and-shut case, but one of the jurors isn’t convinced. In the course of re-examining the case, tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the jurors unknowingly reveal their true natures- their backgrounds, their values, and their biases. In order to deliver a verdict, 12 increasingly frustrated individuals must reach a consensus despite their differences, and hanging in the balance is the truth, justice, and a young man’s life.
Directed by BYLP senior Serenity Yakes

Auditions will be January 3rd from (11am-2pm)
at the Broomfield Community Center
This is a group audition where you will be with anywhere from 2-5 actors. So, feel free to sign up in the same slot as your friends! You don’t have to come with anything prepared other than your actors toolkit (voice, body, and imagination). We will be playing some improv games and performing cold readings.
Rehearsals begin January 5th, Mondays and Wednesdays 6-8pm (location: BCC rooms tbd) with directing support from Christa and Stella Romig-Leavitt. Performances will be March 14 at 2 pm & 7 pm at The Crescent Grange. This show will cast 12-13 actors. These characters are on stage the entire time, so every actor will be called to every rehearsal with exceptions made for conflicts.
