The talent of the staff cannot be underestimated.  They facilitate so many wonderful enriching experiences for the youth of our community." ~ parent of a Youth Theatre and Academy class student

"I learned how to work well with others, I became closer with some people in the backstory community, and I was able to become a better leader." ~ Youth Leadership Program student

"BackStory has been a wonderful outlet for my kids and the benefits are immeasurable. They’ve gained confidence, stage presence & cooperation skills, and I think that has helped get us through some very crucial years in their development." ~ parent of Youth Theatre and Academy class students

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING ABOUT BACKSTORY?

"My students and I loved the performance. The student actors were so professional, the sets were amazing and the production was excellent. My students also loved being able to talk to the actors and ask questions about how they prepare for the production and what it's like to be on stage. We came back to the classroom singing the songs and the kids talked for many days about how awesome the show was." ~ Teacher whose class participated in a free musical theatre workshop

“It was really hard to learn this show, like really hard, but we're like a family and everyone just helps each other and we work together and it’s hard but it’s really fun!” ~ Student actor in a Youth Theatre musical

"This show is one of the best - if not THE BEST - Backstory show I've seen. You guys get better and better. Keep up the fabulous work and I look forward to seeing more of you all in the near future. Well done!" ~ Audience feedback from "Guys & Dolls"

BackStory Theatre Academy's fantastic performance-based programs build skills for performance, confidence, team work, and key STEAM learning skills such as active listening, working memory, and creative collaboration! During this unprecedented time of stay at home orders, social distancing for safety, and rapidly changing information, we are continually revising our usual programming. With shorter session times, small class sizes, and showcase performances during the last class or on special recording days, we are keeping theatre alive and thriving for our students! These changes allow us to deliver the high quality content we promise while remaining flexible to offer each class either online or in-person depending on state and local recommendations.

While several classes are currently listed as studio-based, they will be moved onto a Zoom platform as necessary. We continue to work closely with Broomfield Public Health to determine best practices for safety for our particular program model. During the level CLEAR COVID orders, studio capacity is dictated by available distancing; we have chosen to cap classes at 11 students and 1 staff member to ensure maximum distancing possible. Masks will be worn at all times indoors (exceptions may be made on a case by case basis for private lessons and small classes where all parties are vaccinated) until Public Health advises otherwise.
